Well, my initial plan for my gaming PC was to go with an 8320 and a 7950, but I'm having second thoughts. With the 9000 series and Steamroller coming soon I think I should build something to tide me over until they're released.

I'm thinking of building a rig that'll be capable of supporting these parts when they release so I'm thinking an AM3+ board with a FX-6350 and a 7850. Here is my plan: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1j97o

(The CPU and GPU would be sold after upgrading.)

Note: I currently have a Core 2 Duo with integrated graphics, so waiting really really isn't an option. Neither is upgrading. I'd be in almost $500 for a new OS(Running Vista 32-bit), PSU, RAM(Have 2GB DDR2) and GPU.

Questions:

  • Will this be able to run the latest games at an acceptable quality/frame rate?
  • Do you suggest this?
  • Would a 7750 or 7770 work ok for my needs? (Will be playing Arma 2, BF3 and a little bit of BF4 before upgrading.)

I don't think you even need to wait for the 9000 series.

An overclocked 7850 should be able to play most games on high/ultra.

What's your budget?

Just grab a 8320 + 7950 and play every game comfortably.

Also, grab an ssd...

How long do you think those would last in terms of being able to play games?

Sorry, for the double post. >.<

Considering the 7850 can still max out most games, I'm guesstimating the 8320 + 7950 should last 1-2 years before you'll have actually lower your settings to medium.
