The 4670k is a new CPU and will carry this system for a while (I would guess 5-10 without any bottlenecks imo). You won't have to/need to upgrade it for a while.

The Zalman Air Coolers are good. Not for overclocking much (minor is acceptable), but good enough and cheap enough to work with this build/use case/budget. I own one with an AMD CPU. It handles the heat just fine.

The Gigabyte Mobo is Z87 which will allow you to go 2-way SLI later if you want to upgrade. It's Micro ATX, which will help if you ever need to move it in regards to weight. It's Black/Silver with a hint of blue and I thought that would go nicely with the Black/White themed build.

The RAM is Kingston and 2x4GB. It will leave room for future upgrades to 16GB if you ever feel you need it. You can do RAMDisk/Fancy Cache if you would want to know why you'd want 16GB of RAM (how much I personally have in my system). I use most of it.

The SSD is Kingston who get their modules from Samsung so it's sort of a second-rate 840. Cheap, fast (the difference between the other SSD's and this one won't be noticeable in speed, trust me). 120GB is enough for ~4-5 games and the OS.

The HDD is an HDD. It works. It's cheap. It has a lot of capacity.

The GTX 760 is good for your budget/use case. I will never recommend AMD so long as their Frame Latency is horrible. FPS is not everything when it comes to GPUs. Go SLI later if you want more power. This system can handle it.

The case looks good (minus the fact that there's lots of plastic), and is cheap. It works with the theme of White/Black.

The PSU can handle SLI 760's or SLI 770's in this machine easily. If you never upgrade, you'll have higher efficiency, so either way, you win.

It's an optical drive. What's there to say?

Overall, a good system imo. Perfect for future upgrades or just as a gaming/minor workstation PC. Without deals/special codes, it comes out to $1002. Boo ya.

@zxcvbnmmssdh

I updated this post. Fixed it.

I'm looking for a $1000 USD build, no peripherals, no OS

It will be used mainly for gaming and slight workstation things

I will want a white case and if possible be white and black color scheme

Thanks

EDIT: I would like an HDD and an SSD, SSD for my boot drive

Here is a build I came up with, sadly slightly over budget. If you cant afford it, I only see to go down with the graphics card.
I just wanted to use this one to have the option to SLI later on, and have a pretty darn good gaming rig. But an option is to use this one instead, making it exactly $1001.

Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card  ($199.99 @ Microcenter)

Cases is always a hard thing to choose. I prefer NZXT myself. But I just went with the sleek look from the fractal because it's hard to not like, but it's insanely hard to give a Case for somebody else. This is personal. Have a look at the NZXT Phantom 410, Corsair C70 (this one I think is a really good black and white color scheme)

This is WITHOUT a case because that is something you can decide on yourself. This alone come out to $1139.94 before taxes. no CD-ROM drive. If you were looking strictly under $1000, than I would change the CPU to a Intel Core i5-4670K and the GPU to Asus GTX660 TI-DC2OC. New total $924.94

I'm not loving it. Even with the price cut down cut down, I don't like it. Why would I need 16 gb of RAM, 8gb should be plenty. I was also seriously looking for a boot drive SSD. I don't need a 4770k or a 770. And $1139.94 without a case or OD, pricey, even $924.94 is a little high with 2 components missing

Aswell something to add zxcvb, your name was made when drunk and you just had to mash something on the keyboard?
Oke, sorry. Try to give abit more information about everything, sure you gave a 1000 budget, but there is alot more to consider.

As you did edit: ssd or not.

But just to give a few things:

* Will you overclock?
* How long do you want it to last?
* Any prefered brands?

* What stores can't you acces?

Could you go a less on the case and more on the GPU and add an OD

  • Fractal Design Define R4 White (non-window) - $89.99
  • Lite-On DVD Burner - $19.99
  • Honestly any higher of a GPU will probably put you over $1000.  You could go to a non-K CPU, H87 motherboard, lose the cooler and then get a higher GPU but not with the other parts listed.  Again, you can probably find better deals on some things at PCPartPicker and then get a better GPU but this is a pretty balanced system for the price.

I tend to go full out, not get anything "cheap" and try and get as future proof as possible with the budget i'm given. If anything, I can make you a $500 PC that will play most games. You need to be more specific with your needs.

I hope this doesn't sound rude or anything, but missing a budget by $140 without including all the necessary parts isn't really excused by simply saying "oh yeah, I like going full out on my rigs"..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

wasn't an excuse, more so a vague build with the vague restrictions that the OP has set. I just put what I would have done with my kind of ~$1000 budget +/- 15%.

Boo ya.
