Whats the best air cooler you've ever brought?

Polish_Laska

The best depends on what you're doing with your CPU. One of the best would be the NH-D14 from Noctua.

CPU: Intel core i5 3570 Motherboard: Gigabyte-H77-DS3H Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB  GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB  PSU: Seasonic G Series 550W

I was thinking about getting it but not sure what the temps would be on my 3570K @4.2GHz. With my H100 it's maxing out at 55

The only aircooler I have ever bought was a Thermalright Silver Arrow, so i guess it would be that one.

It is really big. I can't find any spec sheet for the Prodigy M, so I can't really tale you if it would fit.

As he stated, it is not a completly finished product yet, so we don't know the finished specs for certain. But if the measurement are the same as the current Prodigy, the Silver Arrow will not fit.

NH-D14

I sold it a while back because I didn't like how it looked. I bought an h100i and I regretted it instantly.

Now I plan on getting another NH-D14 unless I decide to custom loop.

If you're not overclocking wildly and don't want to spend a ton of cash, the Xigmatek Dark Knight II is pretty solid. Also, in my opinion, one of the few good looking air coolers available right now. But like others have said, it really depends on your needs and personal preferences. If you're aiming for max overclock, you'll want something a bit stronger. Although if you're planning on a Prodigy M build you might have to get creative with a low-ish profile cooler. The DKII only has about a half-inch of top clearance in my Corsair C70 case.

I know http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608020'>Noctua and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103100'>Cooler Master both make top-down coolers that have pretty decent reviews, the latter being more for a budget build, although top-down will never get you the same performance as a traditional tower style cooler. If you're looking for good performance with compactness, you might have to opt for an All-in-One water cooler. Prodigys are pretty flexible in terms of rad space, from what I've seen and heard.

The hottest i can get is using Intel Burn Test, and @ 4.4 with 1.200v (I had to up it from the voltage in my sig, due to some issues in BF3)

I get up to 72 on my hottest core.

Idle is 33 on the hottest core

Normal use (playing games/rendering/whatnot) my hottest core is 62.

This is a normal usage day.

It truly is a beast of a cooler. Super quiet as well, even in the HAF 912 which is not exactly a silence optimized case.

I also should mention i upgraded the exhaust fan and side panel intake to Corsair AF 120's.

Thats pretty good. I see your inconsistent temps are just like mine (no surprise) I was thinking of doing the IHS mod but I'm not sure about it

I am personally too terrified to do it, If i can get in a position where i could buy i new chip if i brick my current one i might try it. Until then i just gotta accept it for what it is haha. Nonetheless it is quite irritating to have one core constantly a few degrees cooler than the rest.

I'm in the same position. Did you get the overclock protection thing that they were offering?
