GTA 5 unplayable - infinite story mode loading

Hey guys. First post. I'm having a problem loading GTA 5 on my PC build. Tried multiple solutions gathered from online sources but still unplayable. Here's my setup and problem:

Xeon E5-2695v3 OC'd to 2.41Ghz

64GB DDR4 ECC memory

1TB Samsung EVO Pro (main OS drive - has GTA 5 on it)

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

EVGA GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0 - factory OC

Corsair AX1200i

Samsung 32" 1080p monitor

GTA 5 is a retail disk copy. Have tried multiple clean installs from both DVD's and download. Everything seems fine except for when loading it gets stuck at the loading story mode screen. Can not move past this screen. No key action works. If I Alt-tab it crashes the program. Seems like there hasn't been a problem downloading the last 5GB patch during install. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why does it look like a server.. but have a consumer graphics card, and 1080p monitor... wtf?

Nvidia driver is 353.06 - show's as latest on GeForce Experience

Asus Z10PE-D16 WS bios is 1001 - latest

All other system drivers are up-to-date

This build wasn't intended as a gaming rig per se - mostly development work and content creation. Still have a second E5-2695v3 going in and second GTX 980.

Load the game into multi-player at the character creation screen exit out and it will take you into single player mode, Happened to me a couple of times. This is a way around it.

Super_shank - how did you get to the character creation page? I'm not sure I can even load that page since the story mode loads right when I load GTA.

Xeon = server. Lol. I guess that's true most of the time. Although there is zero server processes on mine. Mostly non graphical workstation work.

I went into my save folder and deleted the most recent temp file. Fixed it for me.

mr195 - I'll try that. Thanks.

Vvardenfell - Lol. No it is very much a personal computer at home, although I do have an enterprise server at home too.

At the start menu select multiplayer instead of single player, that will take you character creation....just exit that and it will go to single player...
