GPU Picking

Go to solution Solved by Colonel_Unicorn,

As you'll be running triple monitors, I recommend buying the 980ti, you'll need the extra vram for those monitors, plus it's FAR better bang for the buck (as noted by Linus himself in his video on the 980ti). Plus you have the future option of buying another, which likely would not be needed for a very long time.

Hi I'm looking to build a PC soon and was just wondering how to go about my GPU. I intend to run 3 1440p IPS monitors sometime this year or early next year, and my choice is, get a single 980 and possibly a second before the monitors if I have to or try to squeeze out a 980 ti and have the ability to spot another 980 ti into the system when games start to get more demanding. So question is, what should I get to be able to run games decently on a triple monitor setup at reasonably high settings?

No, there is no signatute here, deal with it.

Why not the Titan X?

Probably because money doesn't grow on trees haha, I'm not sure everyone has a grand to splash out on a card, especially when the 980ti is extremely close to the same performance for almost half the price!

depends on your budget to be honest. tough i believe a single 980 would be having a pretty hard time running triple 1440P's.

if your wallet can take it, you should definitely go for the 980Ti in my opinion!

980 garbge, 980TI, or 970.

Titan X maybe, because 3 monitors actually you might surprass 6gb.

edit: not 970 in this case, so probably a 980TI.

Thanks for all the quick replies yeah probably gonna go for the STRIX Direct CU III 980 Ti when it comes out and yeah Titan X is $1600 AUD here which is like $400+ than if I bought it from the U.S. But if I got it from the U.S. I would be paying that much more in shipping so I think 980 Ti is the way to go.
