choosing a mini pc

rl249

Sadly I just noticed the price..

Have you used the beelink p1? It seems pretty slick. Its specs are similar to every other mini pc but what are the drawbacks

have no idea what your budget is

never heard of it or the brand itself, its an atom so its like the little compute sticks

personally I would get a lynx 8" or 10" windows tablet or HP stream or similar windows tablet

I thought NOOBs only installed the basic Linux distros.  As long as you burn the image to the micro sd the OS will work fine as that's what I've always done with my RPi.

Well, the beelink has just a little more ram I think, but you need a case+charger+the SD or microsd[with adapter], hdmi, and a wireless adapter.  It can though do that.  If you are going to use a linux distro on it use raspbian or pidora.  You might be able to run ubuntu on it.  I'd get the starter kit.  But, you still need to get a wireless adapter too.

Unfortunately I cant find the beelink on amazon, so i guess its between the minix, raspberry 2 b+

unless you can suggest anything else? If I get one of the devices cant I just put an embedded os on it os it's lightweight?

I can look around on your amazon/uk one.   :P

the only beelink pocket p2 i found was from some guy selling second hand from italy, the other beelink is a dongle type device which I've heard bad things about.

said 150usd under the assumption most people here are us based, I said 150gbp to you since I realised I'd have to increase the price to get something decent  :P

So I'll make an overall price; 150 euro; 110 gpb; 170usd

Thanks for all the help by the way! you guys are awesome.

Although I love the idea of a tablet I've got my heart set on a mini pc, I think it'd look a lot nice also. I've used some of those tablets in work and they were a pain to set up and we're that great to use in my opinion.

Exactly the same to use and set up, its the same hardware and capabilities just with an added touch screen, because they are more popular they sell for much less than the NUCs and similar items

Hide it beind the TV with an HDMI cable, and wireless keyboard

I honestly dont know many NUC style PCs that are under £150 that are available in the UK the Pi 2 is not powerful for me IMO

I've just got a quick question on raspberry pi. If I got this model

Added an sd card? or micro sd..

this wifi adapter and the logitech wireless bluetooth keyboard, would everything work together?

Is it just a matter of installing an os on an sd after that?

Yes, but get the desktop starter kit option.  The board only lacks a case+the power cord+other required stuff.  Plus, they preinstall the OS installer for you.  It's the easier option.  Otherwise, you have to buy all of that on your own.  The edimax and keyboard will work though on it.

great, have you used the Rii K12 keyboard? that you linked me to earlier?

thanks so much for all the help!

Um, no my friend has it.  He rather loves it.  He gave it a 5/5.

I'm half tempted to get it over the logitech one purely for the fact it's got the ability to charge by micro usb.
