I want to try out water cooling and I'm going to do just my CPU first. What are good brands for reservoirs, pumps, and tubing? Also, is there any good watercooling kits?

I'm assuming kit as in one stop shopping, unfortunately, its not that simple. Only a handful of cases and case manufacturers offer such things, as a normal custom water cooling loop requires TONS of pre-planning (I know this from experience). Often times you have to put the system on hold while you wait for new parts to arrive (i.e. a couple new fittings, a compatible radiator).

For watercooling in general EKWB, XSPC, Alphacool are some of the largest brands, if you want a kit something for XSPC or EKWB to get you started it good if you want a CPU loop and to integrate a GPU soon down the line.

For reservoirs there are a lot of good combo unit or separate pump and res units, EKWB has a good selection, for pump the gold standard is the D5 pump the DDC is also a great compact pump with still excellent head pressure, and tubing I would think something like Primoflex LRT tubing is to be the most well regarded.

What are the types of pumps out there? im assuming D5 is the best one? Also, would you recommend a reservoir/pump combo? or a separate pump and reservoir?

I meant kit as in: already has all the parts to make a custom loop, like a reservoir, pump, etc

For that it really depends on the case you have and the space, I personally like the look of a combo unit and space savings but it can have a slight vibration that can transfer to the case more readily compared to a separate pump res unit.

All the pumps for watercooling, atleast from my knowledge are all centrifuge pumps where the impeller and magnetic drive are completely isolated from each other.
