I've been looking around for a new power supply to power my -soon to be 2- 970s which will be overclocked as well as my 4690k at 4.6ghz, etc. I've had good luck with NZXT as a brand so far with my case and AIO cooler on my cpu, but I dont know about them or EVGA when it comes to power supplies. Are these good? Or do you have suggestions? I've read that the 630w I'm currently running may even have the grunt to work, but I simply don't have enough connectors for SLI. Thanks guys.

personally the EVGA supernova and also why the sli 970 if you can get the 980ti

I already have one 970 and got a deal on another. I definitely considered selling the one i had and getting the 980ti though.

I'd actually say to give yourself some headroom and spring for this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438034&cm_re=supernova_850_gs-_-17-438-034-_-ProductI run the 1050W version of that PSU and don't have any issues with it.

Wife's build: Amethyst - Ryzen 9 3900X, 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X570-P, EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 12GB, Corsair Obsidian 750D, Corsair RM1000 (yellow label)

I like what I see, but do you really think I'll need 1050w? I was under the impression that 750-850w was the safe "overkill" for the set up.

I merely said that I use the 1050W in my system to say that I'm not having any issues with it. I'm not saying you need it, though you can spring for it if you want. It'll more guarantee your system stays in the lower end of the RPM curve on the PSU's fan if you're concerned about that. I linked to the 850W version suggesting that one for you.

My bad, I see it now. I didn't see the word "I" it was hidden next to the link lol

Thanks for the suggestion.

750W is a safe overkill, I've seen setups with a 650W and overclocks near as high as yours.

If you feel like going crazy on GPU overclocks, I would look at 750W. If you don't care for going with high over clocks, you can settle for 650W.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I have 970Sli and run it on 850W, I like to have some headroom :)

The other thing about having headroom is that a lot of PSUs now have low RPM or zero-RPM fan modes. And in those instances if you're wanting a silent build, it pays to go a little more overkill to get a better fan curve on the PSU, thereby allowing the fan to run more quiet or not at all depending on the PSU. In the case of my wife's system, it draws at most 400W, but I have a 1000W PSU on it -- the fan barely ever comes on as a result.

I know, right? The 850W is Corsair and has zero-RPM mode, and truth be told, I have yet to see it spin up :D

Don't look at Corsair, they are generally overpriced and their RM/CX/CS/VS are very mediocre in terms of build quality

EVGA B2 750W is very cheap at the moment. The G2 is an excellent all round option, as is the XFX XTR 750W and the EVGA GS 750W. 750W is more than enough for a few years of SLI, 650W cutting it too fine for it to last in my opinion

i5 4670k - Z87X-UD3H - EVGA GTX 670 Sig 2 - Samsung 840 Evo 250GB - 8GB Avexir Core White 1600Mhz - Corsair 750D w/ RGB LED Mod & Remote Control - 2x SP120 - 3x Enermax Cluster - 2TB Seagate SSHD - Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 - SuperFlower Leadex Gold 750W

Thanks for the advice everyone, I decided on the one suggested by brandishwar!
