So, I'm making this out of slight concern over an error message I'm getting.

Namely, windows is telling me I'm using too much memory, and that I'd better save and close some programs to prevent data loss.

This is apparently because Windows doesn't like the fact that I altered Minecraft to allow it to access 4 gigs of memory instead of the usual 1 gig ( all you do is add a bit of code in your profile).

Now, according to minecraft's F3, I'm not actually reaching 4 gigs of memory usage, at most I've seen it get to 43% of allocated memory. Even when trying to load amplified world types, which...I have no idea what kind of PC you need to have to make that load in a decent amount of time. Even my 4690k at 4.0ghz takes a good 7+ minutes to load it (meaning for the terrain to start generating).

I did this, because when I first create a game world, I notice that I can easily hit the normal 1 gig limit that minecraft sets for itself, and I thought "well, I've got sixteen, so I might as well give it 4 gigs". According to Task Manager's performance tab, I'm using 10 total gigs. That's with ASUS Gpu Tweak open (even though I don't have the GPU OC'ed, just monitoring), Minecraft, and 1 window of chrome. Although when I close chrome, it doesn't drop all that much. Normally, on startup, my system is using about 2 gigs of memory. ( Anti-virus, samsung magician, Intel rapid storage technology, Razer Synapse, Corsair Utility engine, Killer ethernet, and Nvidia GeForce experience is what's all in my taskbar)

Should I be concerned, should I heed windows warnings, or just ignore them completely?

Tbh adding more ram to be allocated does really little for the game, it helps to a certain extent for running a server. Do you have 64 bit Java? That may be a problem. (If so please link me to it because for some reason I have 32 bit and want 64 bit for better performance)

To be honest I don't know %100.

I would like to think I do, as the PC I originally bought MC on was 64 bit.

You should be able to see in game. Hit F3 and look around the top right and it should be there saying something like: java_744_0932 32 bit or whatever (numbers aren't necessarily accurate but from what I can remember it looks something like that)

Terrain takes 7 minutes?

Damn, my 8350 which is supposed to be worse and 2 gb ram allocation loads in 4 seconds... Modded that is (173 mods)

Seems like somethin is wrong

No idea. When I create a new world, I "spawn" in a blue screen, "fall" to a black area, and wait for.....quite some time. When it's one that's already been generated it loads just fine.

According to F3 I have 664bit. And am using a little over 50% of my allocated memory.

*update* apparently my PC REALLY doesn't like using 10 gigs of memory at a time. I closed minecraft, got a BSOD immediately.

allocating more memory to Minecraft does very little unless you have mods installed.

I personally just built a server for 24/7 access and to remove load from my system (gots to have those shaders).

If it takes you 7 minutes to load an amplified world, i would try moving your .minecraft folder to the desktop, and making a new amplified world...

It takes me 10 seconds tops to load an amplified world.
