I just took apart all my PC case fans and CPU fan for some well needed cleaning, after cleaning it, and started it up, I realised that I installed the CPU fan backwards. (It was sucking into the heatsink, instead of blowing)  I panicked and immedietly and started up CPU Fan to tell me my temps.

When my Core2 Duo E4500 usually idled at 50C, it was at 20C!

But, when I ran Prime 95, it looked like the PC had struggles keeping it at a safe temp, under load, it QUICKLY got up to 55C before the fans even revved up.

Is this safe? Should I put the fan in the correct position? Or was this just a manufacturing error ive been living with since 2007.

Please Help!

(Thinking, I believe removing an INCH OF DUST from the heatsink was a help too... Im still worried!)

Firstly 55C is very safe, what are you worried about?

Secondly what the hell have you done there? O.o

This PC has seen many things.... Many.. Horrible... Things,.

come on, why would you risk everything for at least 10mnts of works

too lazy? you don't have to put fan on it, that would make it faster.... to die.

I never cleaned it because I actually got this computer as a hand-me-down about a year ago, but it is still from 2007. Not to mention I got into Computer Parts and Cleaning only in April. Before that I was rlly stupid and thought a hard drive was magical.

Wait, If I don't put a fan on my heatsink.... it will overheat... and die in 3 minutes, why are you saying the fan will hurt my CPU?

It won't die, it'll shut off before anything drastic happens.

But I have a mega bootleg china PC with crappy motherboards and everything im pretty sure my PC will catch on fire any moment now.
