Hey guys, I am considering updating to Windows 10 seeing that we get it for free for a limited time.

But I feel like it is going to remove everything on my PC! And I don't have the time nor the bandwith to re install every steam game and program that I have on my PC

Will installing the update remove everything?

Thanks

It shouldnt. IT should just work like a Windows 7 to 8 upgrade.

AFAIK windows 7 will require a complete reinstall and you will lose your information.

Windows 8/8.1 is treated like an upgrade.

Though no matter which OS you have, always back your information up before you do anything!!!!

As far as I know, the upgrade process will not wipe your data, even if it does, Microsoft did include some sort of backup thing like windows.old or something of sort.

On the other hand, if you install the OS on a different partition or drive, you practically have nothing to worry about, even if the OS got wiped, the data will be there and when you want to install the games through Steam again, Steam will just check the existing files.

So, most likely your data will remain intact, if not, it most likely won't be affected in a large extent.
