So I'm in the market for a new build and I was looking at the 970, 980 or 980ti. I'm on a 1500 USD budget and I'm pretty sure I can fit a 980ti in. Is it worth it or is it better to not jump on a new card like this? Also, does it come with witcher 3 and batman?

really depends on the resolution. The 980 ti is nearly the performance of 2 980's in benchmarks however this does not always happen in games, and one can generally expect a 60% improvement going with the 980 ti as oppose to the 980.

Using the principal of going with the best card now, and getting another one later if you need it, one would assume it best to go with the 980 ti, however until I see pricing in my region, I wont be able to see if its worth it mentally...

Yea. The 980 TI has really good value actually. It has the same Price per performance as a 980. That usually doesnt scale when going up higher in price.

That's what I'm thinking. It seems like the go to card for me

Just have to wait for it to go in stock at it's retail price. The Titan X is still in limited quantity.

It looks to be 650 here in the us which is very reasonable and I'll only be playing at 1080p but I'd much rather get a card for 650 that lasts 4 or 5 years rather than a card for 300 that lasts 2 or 3 years

4-5 years is a very long time though... Lots of things could change, and buying an overkill card will not necessarily mean that it lasts that long.

A gtx 580 came out in 2010, and that card would be chugging in games these days at 1080p

It also should be said I'm not opposed to lowering settings to extend the life of a card, also. I don't really wanna sli, seems like too much hassle for meh return. And I will eventually upgrade to 1440p most likely

If you're only going to be gaming at 1080p, just save some money and get a 970, in the future you can just SLI

The 970 will get 60fps+ on max settings on most titles, unless you plan on playing with HD textures like in Skyrim. If you are not satisfied with your performance, you can overclock the 970 to reach a reference 980.

What's your monitor, and are you including a monitor in that $1500 budget? If you run a 1440p monitor already the 980Ti is a no-brainer unless AMD really has something incredible Tuesday, since $850 for a CPU, board, cooler, case, RAM, hard drive, and OS gives you monstrous gaming system.

Yeah, the 970 is still the king of 1080p cards to me, with the 980 Ti being the new king of 1440p.

Monitor and peripherals need to be included in the 1500 budget

go with the $30 cooler master combo and a monitor (personally you might only get 1080p60 which makes the 980ti overkill) and make the i7 a i5 in the build above

Comes in a little over budget

bump the ram down (8gb is only $50)thats pretty expensive and if you live near a microcenter you can get the i5  + mobo for only 250, but honestly go with the 970 I know there is all this hype around the 980ti since it officially was announced under an hour ago but you simply don't need it for 1080p60

Monitor and peripherals need to be included in the 1500 budget

Maybe buy a cheap 23" 1080p monitor now for about $150, a locked i5-4590 or Xeon E3-1231v3, and an H97 board since you said you have no interest in SLI. Definitely go cheap on the keyboard and mouse right now, maybe pick up a $30 combo somewhere and you're right on track to having $650 to spend on a 980 Ti.

Comes in a little over budget

Great build, but no reason to pay for an SLI board if you're not going to use SLI. You can get cheaper Z97 boards. The 16 GB of RAM is overkill right now, 8GB is plenty right now. Though I can understand stocking up while it's cheap. You can get 16GB for $100 though. Also, the 750W PSU is unneeded for a single card system. That 620W Antec PSU I linked is really nice (Seasonic OEM) for $50.
