Best headphone + DAC under $600

I have a $600 budget for a headphone and DAC. Suggestions? Thanks!

I'd go for the Hifiman HE-400i. Start with a Schiit Fulla, Fiio E10k, or SMSL SD793-II if you think you need an amp.

Alpha dog, SRH1540 for closed headphone

 

HE-400i , K712 / K7xx, Fidelio X2 for open headphone

 

Probably Schiit magni / modi for amp dac, just because

Agreed.

@OP: You could also look at the Schiit fulla if you wanted something less expensive than the magni/modi stack, so you could spend more on headphones.
