Is this a good build?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nswpLk

If you're wondering where the case is, it comes from an HP envy 700-215xt pre ordered PC, and also the motherboard and memory. And the graphics card is gigabyte g1 gtx 970.

Is it a good build? But will it even fit?

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I already bought the 550W....

But doesn't matter, will the gigabyte g1 GTX 970 fit in my PC? Do I have to remove the cages?

Why do you say something if you don't know if it's true?

@OP try to get a i7-4790, it's the new version of the 4770 and is supposed to be the same price.

Not true in the slightest, Maxwell cards are really power efficient. Just as an example (take it with a grain of salt as I'm not sure how well calibrated it is) I have a plug in energy consumption meter and my whole system draws less than 400w from the wall.

Nvidia state themselves that a 970 draws 145w on their site and recommend 500w for a system using that GPU.

The CPU itself has a TDP of 84w?

SO YEAH U NEED 20000w PSU m8

will the gigabyte g1 GTX 970 fit in my PC? Do I have to remove the cages?

Can't seem to find any pictures or internal dimensions for that case, can you measure the inside? GPU length dimensions are readily available online

I was going to recommend going for a 4690K i5 instead of a locked i7 if its a purely gaming rig, but i'm assuming (since the board is from a prebuilt) it may not support overclocking? Do you know which board you have, aside from it being LGA1150?

I'm not sure if the 970 G1 will fit, that card is huge (I have one, its over 30cm). My case is just over 7cm longer than yours, and I had to remove drive bays to accommodate it, and I don't reckon I've got 7cm of space between the card and the front of the case. The only way to know for sure is to measure the case.

The 970 is a great card, but you'd probably be better finding a less enormous version of it, and overclocking manually, assuming you were attracted to it by the factory overclock.

EDIT: The stock card is still 27cm, so you might not be able to fit a 970 at all.

CPU: i7-8700K

Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z370-A

Memory: 32GB TridentZ RGB

GPU: Gigabyte GTX970 G1 Gaming
Storage: 256GB Samsung 850 Pro, 4TB WD Black, 1TB Seagate somethingorother

I asked a HP myself a while ago after posting this. They said it will fit.

It'll fit, and the motherboard will accept it, asked HP.
