Is my A10-5700 bottlenecking my GTX 660? I already know that my 300W PSU is stealing frames and overclocking capability. But, is my aging GPU being bottlenecked by my even older CPU?

Thanks in advance,

Chickenpuffball

Maybe just a bit, in more CPU intensive games.. But 300W for a 660?

If your GPU usage is under 100% when gaming (no vsync or FPS limiters in place) then yes... your GPU is neckin via nother part in your machine, most likely CPU.

Note - Your CPU does NOT have to be at 100% to give a bottleneck.

Some games will show zero necks,...and some will have a huge neck. Depends on the games scene complexity and how it manages resources.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Is there an easy way to check my GPU usage?

Using MSI afterburner's monitoring panel is the best way..

If your average GPU usage is under 95-100% then this indicates a neck'in.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Alright, thanks! :)

You may have to go into options and set it up / enable monitoring,...... Youtube guides can help you there, too much to mention in TEXT format.

Well, I tested my card with Watch_Dogs. It gave me a GPU usage average of about 62%.
