Hey, I have been wanting to build myself a rig for awhile, but I dont have much money. (<$600) is it a reasonable goal to build a computer that can edit 1080p video at a reasonable rate, run autodesk inventor 2015 without any lag or issues, and maybe play some games (not at max graphics, but just for the heck of it)? It will be mostly a worker, but not heavy flow. I came here because I know this quite a knowledgeable community. But anyway, is this even reasonable?

Yeah, it's sort of reasonable. There will probably be a bit of lag and it might be a bit slow, but you can always upgrade!

A link for a PC part picker list is on its way!

Is that CPU capable of an overclock, if I were to improve cooling?

No. If you want an overclockable CPU, you won't be able to get the build under 600

EDIT: My bad @NeatSquidYT proved me in le wrong

Incorrect. G3258 or 860k or an AMD APU. not to mention second hand parts, including Core 2 Duo/Quads, 1st gen i7s and i5s...

i need more info.

1. Do you need monitor?

2. Do you want to spend as little as possible? It can be done with 510$ or even less money with 16 gigabytes of RAM.

3. How long videos / how many clips?

4. What games do you want to play and at what graphics?

5. Do you play often?

6. Do you want it quiet?

7. Need windows? Keyboard? Mouse? SSD? Its possible...

Tell me more man. 600 is alot i can work with.

I just did build with 16 gb of ram and an 8 core, easy peasy editing. for 510$

I do need periferals (I know I said no before), I would like to keep the price low, they are only short videos from a gopro (I enjoy messing around with it), I actually dont need any ram (my friend gave me his old ram), for games not much (just go with whatever is needed to run a middle range demand game), I dont play often, and I dont really care if its quiet at all.
