Hi all. I'm trying to help someone out with a bios update, but the problem is he can't click on anything to update the bios from the bios. He can play games and everything else, but when he is in bios it looks like this, and everything is unclickable.

I know it's not recommended, but I believe doing the bios update from windows is his only option. How does one do this? I will post a link to his post so you can get an idea of why it may need to be done. Give me a moment, as I am on my phone.

Here is the link. Will put mobo model here in a sec too.

It looks like his bios is badly corrupted.  Can he even boot into windows?  If he can give him this link and for OS click windows 7, even if he has windows 8, and tell him to download AI suite.  And in there is an update program which may allow him to update his bios.  If that doesn't work he will probably have to RMA his motherboard.

overclocked or not?

and by "not able to click" does that mean you are trying to use a mouse?

try using your keyboard only and using arrow keys and enter key

I am on the pcpartpicker forum trying to help him out. Don't know him from Adam. Just been giving him what help I can. He has no clue at to how to update it so I posted a link to one of Linus's videos. He said he can't get any of it to function. So I'm not sure if he's tried keyboard way. He hasn't responded to my last post yet.

As far as I know it's not oc.

Yes he can boot into windows and play games. That's why I figured it was his bios. Thanks. Unfortunately RMA is out. He bought this computer off of ebay. Not even sure how long he's had it.

Check with ASUS if you can buy an updated BIOS chip. I had a bad checksum on mine, got a bios from biosdepot on ebay. Still bad check sum. Put in the MB install Disk(after 2 hours of hunting for it) choose the reflash bios option(text mode) still bad checksum. These steps failed with me and I bought new MB but they may work here. First find the disk or download it. Bios chip was like 20 bucks.

An update to this. He used the AI suite and reflashed his mobo. He's good to go. Thanks.
