Recommend a cheap 5.1 surround speaker set for an HTPC?

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

What's your budget?

 

Do you want a HTIB (Home theatre in a box) set? Meaning: One box that has the entire setup, speakers, amp, etc?

 

Will you only be connecting this to an HTPC, or will you want to connect any set-top boxes like Cable Boxes or Blu-Ray players?

Connects to HTPC, sonos, roku 3, xbone 360(I was uneducated). Yes, would like a HTIB.

Google is your friend. Unless you need something specific and hard to find, there's no reason for this thread to exist.

I suggest you go on canuck audio mart's buy and sell website and pick up a used 5.1 speaker setup and a decent 5.1 integrated amp and an entry level DAC. You won't get exceptional stuff for $1000 but you will get $2500 worth of stuff for $1000. I got my sub used from there. It's in 10/10 condition. Less than half price. 

Intel Inside. Overweight guy in his 30's outside.
