Weird Car Issue?

I changed my cars oil.... Took it to my bowling center... It died... like completely dead I asked cameron (the mechanic) for a jump... would not jump. Went up in his car to battery king and got a new battery. Worked... Got to the store... it wouldn't start. Jumped it. Worked perfect. Best part is works awesome now... as if the alternator went out but fixed itself. @techswede

I had a weird issue in my car the other day - sitting at a traffic light, my RPMs just dropped, and my car started shaking. RPMs went back up and I couldn't repeat the issue.

It seems as if the problem went away now cause it is holding a charge very good.

If you put a volt meter on your accu + and - poll, and you start the car, then you can see if its charging.

Ofc you need to measure in DC not AC.

Other test you can do, start the car, take of the + poll from the Battery.

If it fauls out, then there could be an issue with the alternator still.

Had an issue like that. Turns out it were some corroded cables on the main plug.

Probably a loose connection somewhere. Have a quick look around to see if anything is loose

I checked it, seems to be nothing loose although, now it is working perfect, charging and holding the charge.

Maybe it was in chock after getting some fresh oil xD

Oh well. You could either attack it with a multimeter to see if you can find anything or see if the problem reappears

still the 95 mustang?

possibly the 20 year old battery cables. ford used a real small gauged wire for

the starter, charging and grounding circuits. when we'd bump up compression

on the 5.0L autocross cars, we'd use the 00 welding cable to allow the battery

to fully energize the starter (high compression made for hard starts). even

upgrading to a 2ga cable for the ground and starter and 16ga from alternator

to starter solenoid should help out a lot on stock cars (copper does

breakdown after years of atmospheric/corrosion).

Yeah I gotta agree here. Copper cables don't last forever in both the marine and auto worlds.

Had to replace all the heavy cabling in my firebird last month as the cable in the terminals had corroded so badly it would kick out over speed bumps.

2ga marine cable makes for excellent replacements, especially with crimped ends and top post lugs.

Mind you my poor 'bird has been hacked together by morons for who knows how long so I'm hunting down issues every other day.
