Black Mesa Worth it?

I played the mod a while back, just wondering if it warrants a purchase. What's the difference between the free and the early access version(paid version)? Is it just that the early access version is the only version that they're updating?

So wait, is Black Mesa just a combined version of the entire Half-Life classic suite sort of?
