So just recently I've been looking into getting a gaming PC. After doing tons of research on build vs buy, what parts should I be getting, and gpu/cpu comparisons: I've come up with the following list

From the research I've done everything is compatible and should run games pretty well. I will also include estimated price (as things so change) and want to know that I am getting the best out of my money's worth

Here are the parts:

CPU: AMD FX 6350

Cooler: Corsair H100i 77 CFM Liquid Cooler

Motherboard: MSI H97 Gaming 3 ATX LGA1150

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2x4) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage: 1.Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" SSD

2.Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V

Case: NZXT H440 ATX Mid Tower Case

Power: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX

Total Price: ~$1125 give or take

As you can see I've got with a black and red theme with this build

This will be my first gaming PC but it's not just for gaming.

I use these programs often: Photoshop, Vegas Pro, After Effects, Cinema 4D, and the rest is pretty much games

If you have any change suggestions please let me know!

Note: The change must be in black and red or change my whole color scheme.

First thing to point out. The CPU is AMD, the motherboard is Intel. Dump the fx, get an i5 4460 or get a z97 atx mobo with 4690k because that's a cheap combo.. Unless you do a heavy over clock, dump the water cooler. Too expensive. Get a hyper 212 evo air cooler. You can throw that money into a better intel cpu

Alright. I'll revise what I've got later today with any other things I get. Thanks :)

Best combo for atx is probably an MSI z97, the gaming edition is red and black (though costs a premium) but if you plan to spend over $1000 on a PC then you're prob not worried about that. In terms of performance no AMD CPU can beat the 4690k. And it also overclocks so easily with a hyper evo 212 ( best budget air cooler, you'll be surprised how well it performs)

Regarding the fx6350, its an AMD am3+ socket so need an am3 mobo for it. It's terrible if you can afford better though. Power hungry too

As pointed out above you either need to change your motherboard or CPU. The i5 4440 is a great budget performer and will definitely destroy the 6350. If you get the 4440 don't get an aftermarket cooler, it's not an unlocked proccessor.

Thank you guys for the tips. Because looking for 'MSI z97" came up with a lot of mother boards I picked the MSI z97 Gaming 7 ATX LGA1150.

I'm not wanting to spend money where it is not needed BUT I'm also not wanting to skimp out on things. I want this to be a long term pc that can be upgraded if I need to

Here is the updated parts:

CPU: i5-4460

Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo

Motherboard: MSI z97 Gaming 7 ATX

As for everything else it has stayed the same as the first post.

The z97 motherboard is not needed for the 4460. Z series is for unlocked processors. Get a H97 if you don't plan on getting a 4690k

Here are the parts now:

CPU: i5-4460

Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

Motherboard: MSI H97 Gaming 3 ATX LGA1150

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2x4) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage: 1.Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" SSD

Case: NZXT H440 ATX Mid Tower Case

Power: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX

Total Price: ~$1115 give or take

Everything good now?

Also, a friend gave me a Radeon HD 5770 a while back. It's not in use and after comparing it to the 970 I can tell it's not that great.

But up front I'm not planning on playing games like GTA V or other major titles. Mainly games like CS:GO and doing tasks I do today even without a graphics card.

After my next paycheck I'd buy the 970 just so I don't have to wait as long.

Would this graphics card be okay for the temporary use until 2 (or more) weeks later?

Or should I just be waiting till I have everything saved up correctly and just buy the 970 up front?
