Hey guys. I am in the process of planning out my racing/flight/work cockpit. I would like to do nVidia surround with 3 monitors, however I would also like a 4k monitor for photo editing, and some games. The question I have is can you run 2 1080p monitors on the side, and a 4k monitor in the middle.

When in surround, have the 3 monitors running at 1080p.

When not in surround, have the side monitors off and run the 4k monitor at 4k.

From my understanding, you set the resolution as one monitor at 5760x1080. In my mind, this should work.

Horsepower is not an issue for me, I am running Asus 980 Matrix, 5820K, 16 gb DDR4 ram. I am waiting to see what comes out next gen but may be switching to the next gen's Titan Z equivalent.

Any advice would be helpful however my mind is set on surround. It will come in handy for gaming but more so for work.

If the 4K runs at 1080p then you should be fine.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

This should work fine, yes. The 4K monitor will default to the lowest common resolution, which in this case is 1080p (perfect for scaling.)

Are all the monitors connected via HDMI?

No, DisplayPort.

Woo! Lol thanks for the help. It will be good if something actually goes the way I plan for once!
