Is the FX8350 only gaming CPU?

why is it so cheap and have so many cores?

is it only designed for gaming no editing and stuff?

8350 rivals the 3570k and the 4670k from Intel.

It is mainly focused on gaming but it's 8 cores aren't as powerful as Intel's cores.

The i5 series from Intel doesn't have hyperthreading, so multithreaded performance of the 8350 might be slightly higher in some applications.

What is your usage scenario?

If he plans on doing some video editing, get him the 8350 or the 8320. They are the same chip only the 8350 overclocks slightly better.

Honestly if he is an extremely high power user (maxing out his CPU 24/7) he should take a look at an i7 from Intel.

If he just games on the machine get an i5 or an 8320.

There's no such thing as an only gaming or only editing cpu. It is good for gaming along with many other things.

The 8350 is one of the several good performance/price cpus.

It is cheap and has so many cores because that's how AMD rolls. AMD has more, less powerful cores and Intel has fewer, more powerful cores.

For gaming, especially in the near future the 8350 is going to be better than an i5 from intel (3570K/4670K) due to the new consoles both running an 8 core AMD CPU.

The 8350 is also significantly better than both of these processors in multi-threaded tasks like rendering, editing & general productivity workloads.

The downside is that it does lose on single-threaded workloads, although applications and games are all moving towards more threads & the applications that aren't moving towards that are already running fast enough, so it's not an issue.

Thank you, I do my research.

edit: i mean he is smart:D

I've owned more intel CPUs than AMD CPUs, in fact I've only ever had one AMD CPU, while I've owned over half a dozen intel CPUs.
