Hell yes.

xD it would be tourney-based though so 24 Tributes fight to the death and the more times you win you get points and with those points you can either customise your character or use them on sponsors? :p

In terms of AI I was thinking about animals but smart ones that will hunt you in a pack and split up to cut you off etc.

The maps would not be random but most likely chosen at random from, say 100 pre-created maps?

Open world bro.

I'm talking about being thrown into the actual hunger games as a tribute and having to fight and survive; in terms of maps I'm talking about the arena for the tournament.

I know.

The fight doesn't always immediately end. I'm up for starting at a certain point the same way it was in the first movie and just letting all the tributes loose that way.

Some will immediately die, but then many will run out into the open world and have to be hunted down. That'd be so awesome. Need tracking.

Hmmm... I guess that'd work and once you die you are returned to the character creation screen to be re-born?

Yup, if there isn't enough players to begin a round the spots could always be replaced with AI that the players could spawn into?

Yep.

Being surrounded by equipment would be great, but I wouldn't want it like Quake style "run over the gun and immediately pick it up" weapons.

It should be more realistic than that. If I go for bow+arrows, it should be quicker to "equip" than something more cumbersome. Just a thought.

There would probably be actual equip animations for things not just the item teleporting into your hands xD.

Yes yes a million times yes. And have a massive tourney every 6 months or so to find out who would truly win the games. And they would be immortalized lol I would continue but I don't want to spoil hunger games for anyone lol

every 3? Quarters just like the book, gonna leave it there for no spoilers.

If you can handle the servers : P
But yeah, there's a lot of small stuff that would make the game way more epic..
If you can get away with it, steal the enchanting from minecraft, and give a bunch of XP for killing other players.
And have Team arenas (12 teams of 2, 8 teams of 3, maybe even 6 teams of 4...)
Make very different maps, like some rather flat ones with a lot of trees etc, and some really bare mountainous and everything between. And then you can choose between 3-4 map styles which each has 20+ actual maps within
And to evolve on Dudenstein's idea, have an in-game ranking system which get's reset every 6 months, and make the final week or two battle of the best players (like 7 hunger games within the period, first the top 96, then with those arenas the last 6 left gets to the next 2 arenas (Maybe the top persons can get a very basic boost), which are smaller arenas with 12 people instead. top 3 from each goes on to the final battle where there's only 6 people which has a Special map (Smaller, maybe a new one every final battle)
If none of those things happens, Well yeah im gonna play it a bunch
If most or all of that happens, I will not have a social life by the time I get access to the game.

Edits:
Keep the simplistic combat system from minecraft, maybe with more Bow types. (Regular, Long bow)
Make a running/sprinting mechanism that takes way more hunger than in minecraft, but has a dedicated button.

And setup a Kickstarter, this will get some serious funding.

Btw, I have so many ideas about this, i would love to help out.

90% of what I say is sarcasm.

In terms of enchanting there could be something more technology-based as per the story line.

The in-game ranking system is a really good idea I believe could create a very competitive vibe which could drive the gameplay.

I like the idea of having a simplistic combat system with different bow types, there would probably be a larger variation of weapons; daggers, short swords, long swords, scimitars etc

Do you really think a Kickstarter would be worth doing?

I have yet to watch Hunger Games nor do I think I ever will and so I have no opinion on doing a game based on this show.

The films are not the best in the world but the books are amazing, you should read them if you have the time.

max 5 different types of weapons, which could exist in 2-3 different versions (similar to seordss in minecraft)

if the player base is big enough i think it could be a good idea too have a competive system. dont introduce it in beta and such though.

Also, make it playable on intel hd graphics and available for linux.

If you think you can make it (again, i would love to help), and have some sort of idea on what to use the money for, a kickstarter would attract great attention to the game.

Maybe even a single player campaign against Bots if you don't have the interwebz to play multiplayer

More stuff:

I don't know how much we should base it on the game, I think it'll be a bad idea copyright wise to make it into "Hunger Games: The Game"

I think it should become more of like, a first person MOBA without spells.

Also, I think there maybe should be classes, like ranger, melee, maybe a class that runs faster but is a bit worse with both types of weapons (So like, ranger gets bonus with bows, melee gets bonus with swords but all can use all types of weapons.)

Linux support will be 100% no matter what (sick of lack of Linux support :| ) , I think this could have a large playerbase; I was thinking of naming it something along the lines of "Survival Games" , "Hunger Games: Online" or something like that.

A first person moba without spells? Sounds insane xD but I can see where you're going with that. Classes are imminent, most likely: Archer (can climb things for better range but can cause things to collapse if too heavy), Tank (can deal a bit of damage but good at taking hits, can NOT climb things due to weight) , Mercenary (deals damage but quite squishy, climbs things but heavier than archer) and Fast footed (increased movement speed, able to climb trees faster than archers and is lighter) then last but not least the "Balanced" class that can output moderate damage, take moderate damage and can climb between archer and merc (probably best for going solo).

There will most likely be the option to create alliances mid-game with anyone (probably through an invite-type system) but the alliance can be broken at any time :p , being in an alliance would make you share resources, create a chat channel for the alliance and maybe VOIP?

Those classes sound cool, alliance sounds better than the current minecraft system.

In regards to the alliance system that was my main idea, the current minecraft system results in a LOT of teams killing members by accident.

Well I was thinking Deathmatch but that was cliche, Trials of a Champion is also rather unoriginal. We can't make this without just a bit of OCD you know. Either short or you should be able to pronounce the acronym

Trials of a Champion is good, Could be an option, i like the Champion. Game of Champions? Or is that to widespread? Might  stick with ToaC
