IMO Sublime text 2 is better than notepad++

way more autofill, colour schemes etc

personally i use the products from jetbrains, as i find them the best (well they are not free)

but i know a lot who use sublime and vim aswell

i would say one of the best free is sublime text

It says sublime costs $70

For frond-end work (html, css, javascript) i would definetly recommend brackets.

It has live editing and some nice plugins for automatically creating css from sass

If you're also working on backend, or just want a really nice code editor, use sublime text (its free, it will just give you a popup every know and then).
