First one. I feel like if you are going to spend close to 1500, might as well get a 980, so stick to the cheaper alternative.

I'd go for second one personally, but do you plan to overclock? If not go for second one....

Or like @DeVIZation said, if your spending that much get close to $1500, why not spend $200 more and get a 980?

Main PC: Core i5 4670 | MSI Mpower Max z87 | G.Skill Ripjaws 2x4gb | Stock intel cooler | PNY GTX 770 2gb (hoping to upgrade) | Seagate 1tb 7200rpm | Corsair RM850 | Corsair Carbide Air 540 | PCCG custom sleeved black/yellow extensions | Corsair K70 Cherry MX Blue | Corsair M45 |

Phone: LG Nexus 5 | Headphones: Audio Technica ATH-PDG1, Shure SRH440 | Laptop: Asus 303la (i5 model, 1600x900 res) | Motorbikes: 2004 Sherco 290i, 2013 Husqvarna CR125 | Xbox one

Spend 200 more bucks and get the "advertised" amount of VRAM.  ;)

I'm assuming he already has one of the 970s, seeing as it's input manually.

970 sli outperform a 980 and its $40 more expensive yet I do get to overclock.

No one is Refurb cause I don't need 2 witcher 3 and 2 batmans.

Ah, that makes sense.

I'd suggest going for the second one, but moving to a 980 instead. That way, if you want to upgrade down the line, you can buy another 980 rather than having to swap out both 970s for something new.
