I really like my DT-990 pros.. and it depends on how much you wanna spend, more money usually means it'll sound slightly better in the same lineup.

The DT880 is the more reserved, less colored of the two. I chose the 880, those that want boosted bass and treble should choose the 990.

Yea sorry im not an audio head. I recently just got into the audiophile community. I have no idea what does colored or reserved mean.

Have you tried the 880s?

Yeah and it goes along with what @SSL said which was spot on "The DT880 is the more reserved, less colored of the two. I chose the 880, those that want boosted bass and treble should choose the 990." I prefer the 990 because I prefer that type of sound, depends on personal preference.

Meaning it is more neutral, i.e. less boosted bass and treble. If you have access to EQ software, bring up the bass and treble in a shallow V-shape. That is what I am talking about when I say "boosted".

So meaning that the 880s are slightly more cleaner and clearer. The 990s are more bassy and heavy am I correct.
