So me and a friend had the idea of building a computer out of pc parts we found on the side of the road (council cleanup in australia). We are planning on making it a full gaming build, and are looking to spend less than 50 dollars on the whole thing. We already have a mobo, cpu, ram, psu, case (all stinged from council cleanup for free). To give you an idea of the scope of this, we are going to put a gt 210 in it if we cant find a gpu. It's also going to be overclocked and overvolted with a full water cooling loop. This is built for fun, and I'll do a build log of it in the forums. Can you guys recommend a way to have a pump/rad from ghetto rigged diy parts? It's supposed to be enough for 3 waterblocks (again ghetto rigged, 2 for the gpu and 1 for the cpu).

In all your watercooling prowess, can you figure out a method of making a pump? If this works it'll be the funniest thing ever :D

You can repurpose AIO block/pump combos many of the old Corsiar ones use standard barbs and you can use zapstaps as compression fittings.

I dont think i'll find an aio on the side of the road though . . . Is it possible to make a rad and pump from scratch/using old pc fans?

You can ghetto cool it like they did back in the day with a 12V aquarium pump and cheapy waterblocks from online like ebay. You would need to build the mounting hardware for it and do testing since it's a bit of a mix and pieced together thing.

If you are looking for a custom watercooling solution down the line EKWB or XSPC Kits are a good start for stuff to a proper watercooling loop.

I didn't even think of an aquarium pump! Can you recommend a specific model? It needs to go through 3 waterblocks, and I still need a rad solution. I'll probably just find a cylinder of some sort for the res.

I personally don't recommend it since it's not exactly designed for it but it was done before watercooling hardware was readily available a while back.

Try to looking for a pump that has good head pressure and decent flow rates, usually aquarium pumps are the opposite of that having high flow rates and low pressure since there is very little restriction inside of a fish tank.

Can you recommend a specific and cheap model?

I'll be honest I wouldn't know where to start to get a decent aquarium pump, I'd try amazon but other than that I wouldn't know of a decent brand or quality pump that would last.

For proper a watercooling pump the D5 is the best regarded followed closely by the DDC pump.

What about the cheapest pump? And what about a rad?
