Both are good, if you're in budget you can go with Seagate (just go with the cheaper option).

Both are good. There are some numbers on which 'fail more often', but those are just numbers..

I have never had either one of them die on me.

Personally I have a preference for WD (because there is more flexibility in the drives, as in the colors), but Seagate is good too. (Don't know much about Seagate though)

I'm going for 2tb, is that worth it?

If you need it it's worth it, HDD is cheap now.

I'm pretty sure I will have a 2.5k budget. Any suggestions for that kind of PC?

You'll get a lot, what will you do with the HDD? Backup? Games?

Same, all I've heard about Seagate is that they make hard drives! Thanks for your input.

If you want 1TB drive it really doesn't matter. 2TB and 4TB drives seagate dominates because WD options are either too expensive (black) or too slow(green).

Games, videos, and of course the massive amount of files which I tend to have. I am planning to use an SSD for OS and some games I'll be playing a lot. :)

If you're going with Seagate then go with 2TB Barracuda, if you're going with WD then go with 2TB Black (this one is more expensive).

So I heard. I think I will go Seagate. WD has the flexibility but Seagate is dirt cheap yet packs packs badass performance. Thanks!

But which is better for the price? Thanks for the suggestions though, it really helps.

Seagate Barracuda, WD Black is way more expensive.

My 2TB barracuda started acting up yesterday after 1.5 years. Now im considering replacing it for the same disk (hoping it lasts more this time...) or for a WD Blue but it only has 1 TB...

The funny thing is SMART on Disk Health using Parted Magic shows PASSED as overall health, yet I have 11920 in Reallocated Sector Count and type shows pre-failure, Raw Read Error Rate also shows pre-failure, Spin Up time too, Seek error Rate too and Spin Uo Retry Count too.

I have secure erased the data. The drive still works.. the data was there before erasing it, and i managed to back up everything, but it was really slow. I dont want to risk using it any longer.

So I dont know if I should buy again the seagate because of the 2TB over 1 TB of Blue WD, im just paranoid to buy the same HD that just crashed on me.

Well, that's around $65 for 1.5 years, and this isn't a very common case. Sounds like a good ratio to me. Although I am really sorry to hear about what happened. Good luck!
