Is there a way to change out the wire? The headset is amazing just that coiled cable.....ewh.....

Changing cables on fixed (not interchangeable) headphones requires the headphones to be opened. So only do that if:

 

- you're ready for the warranty to be void

- you're confident in dealing with small and fragile stuffs

- you got a decent skill in soldering

- you're ready if everything goes south, and the headphone ended up 'bricked'

 

I did my share of mistakes. Wrecked a driver on my HE-400, ended up shelling almost $100 for it to be replaced with a refurbished one. Wrecked the headphone amp part of my Aune T1, ended up shelling $50+ for replacement parts.

They have those, the premium version is straight cabled. 

 

Might want to browse around head-fi to find someone who accept headphone modding.
