Hey guys

I'm a bit confused and need help

I am looking to to buy a new setup to play games

I am unable to decide between buying a ps4 or a gtx 970

Here in India a new ps4 costs 39990 inr (630 us dollars) and a new gtx 970 costs 26000 inr (410 us dollars)

I am unable to decide which one to pick to play the latest games

For your reference my current specs are listed below

i5-2500 (non-k) 3.3 GHz

Intel dh61ww motherboard

8gb Kingston hyper x fury (single stick)

Sapphire oc edition HD 7770

Corsair CX 500 v1 (38 amps on 12V rail)

WD caviar blue 500gb HDD

Will my system bottleneck a reference gtx 970?

Will my PSU handle a gtx 970 ?

Also overall which is the better investment

Looking forward to your answers

Cheers!

The GTX 970 in my mind would be the better investment. A GTX 970 will max out most current titles, a PS4 will play most modern titles on medium settings to high at subpar resolutions.

If you like the titles ps4 has to offer and think you'll enjoy that more get that. But really your on a PC forum. Everyone's going to tell you to go with the GTX 970 including me.  A console is going to cost you more in the long wrong. Not to mention it's already costing more then the gpu.

Is this a serious question? The PS4 is along the lines of the R7 265.

And even that, is being somewhat generous

A 970 will completely destroy the PS4's graphic solution

I'm pretty sure a 970 can beat 3 PS4's.

Nope, it sports a modded 7870, a.k.a R9 270X. Still dont hold its own to a 970. But it is far superior than a R7 card. Try getting 60 rock solid fps in Wolfenstein New Order @ 1080p on a R7, even at lowest settings i very much doubt it would do 30 stable.

Nope, the PS4's GPU is based on the Pitcairn chip, and slots between the 7850 (R7 265) and the 7870 (R9 270) but is closer to the 7850 then the 7870. It is not a 270X, which is a 7870 GHz Edition with a much higher clock speed then the chip in the PS4.

Frame rate is not directly comparable. You also need to take optimization into consideration. Console games are much better optimized for the hardware then PC, due to it only needing to be developed for two different pieces of hardware (Xbox One and PS4) rather then the hundreds of possible combinations of PC parts out there. Not to mention most games on PS4 are running at what would be low to medium settings on PC, many of them at 900p and not even 1080p.

im all about pc master race but i just got a xbox one and im damn impressed what it can do,and they are weaker than ps4. picture may not be as sharp but they play so smooth without any driver/bug/crashing crap i have with pc games.

take advanced warfare for example, looks great on pc but has all kinds of problems and driver issues and to top that it has absolutely no servers or players it seems. i cant play anything but tdm or mosh pit in STANDERD , i cant even get into any hardcore, classic,or ranked matches.

on xbox one its almost as pretty background a little fuzzier than pc but runs perfect and i can get a game in any mode in seconds.

get the 970 if you can, but you cant go wrong with a ps4 or xbox one imo....

actuyally i have found they are more like high settings with ultra textures, like bf4 for instance...resolution isnt true 1080p tho

If the game is less demanding then comparable settings might be higher. Usually it's either 900p high or 1080p low-medium, which is about right for the hardware.

GTA V on PS4 is 1080p high settings at 30FPS and people say it dips, but with my stock speed R9 270 which is only slightly better then the GPU in the PS4, I can get easy 50-60 FPS at the same settings. Huh

thats pretty good for a stock  r9 270 no doubt. thats mainly due to gta v makers taking thier time to make a very good ported game.

but take far cry 4 for example....ps4 plays that better than my 280x does
