I've been planning on getting a new video editing/ gaming pc for quite a while now, but I can't decide between laptop or desktop. I'm going to be doing a bit of traveling during the next year or two, so I've been wondering if it is safe enough to move a desktop pc every few months. Thanks in advance.

Moving a PC every few months is perfectly safe, people take PCs to weekly LAN parties, so as long as you choose a build that can be easily moved, you will have no problem. In addition the increased performance and upgradability of a PC will definitely pay for the size and weight increase.

Go for a Laptop, If you get a good quality one it will hold on for a quople of years.

But it is really down to preference.

If you get a nice mid tower case like the NZXT H440 it's perfectly fine.

I would say desktop but nice laptops are expensive I bought a Lenovo y500 with an i7 and a gtx750 could run games 2 year ago and now it struggles with almost any recent title and that laptop cost $1k.

Midtower case like the Fractal define series or smaller are easily and safely movable on a regular basis. Desktop will stay top of the line much longer, but remember you will also have to buy peripherals with a desktop, and if your budget is mid-grade to high end, you can easily spend an additional 300-600 on keyboard-mouse-monitor etc.
