Hi guys I'm basically doing my first pc build and i have three things left, my graphics card, monitor and processor. I know that i want a 960 series graphics card, but i don't understand the difference. You can get msi 960 , vega 960, asus 960 gigabyte 960, whats the difference between them all if they are all in the same series?

Thanks,

Thanks,

The GTX 960 is the processing chip on the graphics card. Each board partner (EVGA, Asus etc) makes a different aftermarket cooler and make small changes to the card

For the GTX 960 you should get either the MSI Gtx 960 or Gigabyte GTX 960. The Asus coolers are usually good but for the GTX 9xx cards they are not very good

You should also consider the R9 280x, a little lower price and it performs about the same most of the time

Name comes from anagramed sticker for "TUF Inside" (A sticker that came with my original ASUS motherboard)

Differences are mainly cooling design, clock speeds and warranty. All 960s have the same amount of CUDA cores, and are the same by design.

My preferences for client builds are EVGA > ASUS > everyone else, because they have fantastic CS departments.

not much of a difference. are you making a compact build ? because if you have nuf airflow a 280X would be a lot better

yeah its very compact mini itx motherboard, cooler master 120 elite case

ok then yeah. keep the 960.

di get the evga version. just for how good their support is.

other than that. not much of a difference. maybe a bit of a higher clock. but you can do that yourself :)

what difference does 2gb and 4gb make?

it can make the difference between good graphics with aliasing and discusting single lines across the face, or not.

for example. gta 5 will max out the vram on my pc. just for that.

I have a 780 3gb

depending on games you play. you will probably not need 4gb. with gta 5 its just about me pushing it and running adobe illustrator and other stuff in the background
