Damnit, I actually saw this somewhere.

BRB, I have an article for a company that makes kits, in a magazine. You have to assemble and finish the stock yourself, but it's actually really cool. I want one.

Move to the US, no license required for antique firearms. :P

My only issue with their firearms is the lack of wood overtop of the barrel, I like the Mosin Nagant look, but Mosin's are just....never in good enough condition to warrant a serious investment. Part of me want's to go to a gunsmith/machinist and have one custom made, with decent tolerances, out of stainless or something. Make a Mosin that looks good enough to be called a "ceremonial" weapon, if you know what I mean. Engraving, gold, etc.

Just need six months of .22 shooting in a club before i can apply for a license. (And a course in how to handle black powder) then i can start buying any rifle i'd like^^

I've always been more of a mauser karabiner 98 kurz kind of guy. But the mosin does look good. I wonder if i could find one easier here since i'm a bit closer to russia.

I'd like to have a musket made with engraving along the barrel and stock. Would look absolutely gorgeous^^

I don't know how the gun market is in Europe, but in the US (pre-obama for....various reasons) you could get a Mosin Nagant for about $90 US. Now-a-days a "dirt cheap" mosin like the one I bought, is going for about $150-300 bucks.

I saw an 18 year old looking at one for $300 (crappy, cosmoline caked condition) at the last gun show I went to, I walked over and told him "that's about three times what that gun is worth, don't buy it" and he walked away, the gun seller looked like he wanted to hit me. I just looked at him and said "come on dude, don't be one of those guys" and walked away.

The short barrel versions are worth some money, mainly for humor factor at the sheer amount of noise and fireball they kick out. My friend brought the one given to him by his grandfather to this field at another friends house, and we were shooting. The friend's (who owned the house) brother showed up and said "what he HELL are yall shooting? I was a mile up the road and it sounded like a damned cannon".

(terrible audio)  but it's also worth considering that the ammo for the mosin is the cheapest (at least in the US) "big bore" rifle ammo on the market.

Edit: also....I've yet to come across anything that a mosin will not shoot through, including rather large trees..... It's just a fun ass gun to play around with. Mainly because you CANNOT hurt one.

(that test, is down right RIDICULOUS.)

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for injuries to your shoulder if you go out and buy a Mosin. They kick like a bull.

The gun market is pretty tiny compared to the US. And we usually end up paying premium prices for guns you'd probably call mundane.

The guns that are already in sweden are cheaper though. But they are usually fairly featureless hunting rifles

300$ would be considered a great deal here xD. But nice of you to keep him from getting scammed

Dayum. Here Mosin's pretty much grow on trees.

The biggest problem with them is getting them to function properly. The bolt has a tendency to stick, to the point that you need a solid table and maybe a hammer to unbolt them. Best method is to clean the chamber out with one of those specialized AR-15/m-16 chamber brushes, and bit of lapping compound, on the end of a drill. The steel case shells expand and grip the chamber....sometimes to the point that you get it unbolted, and you've ripped off the back part of the cartridge.

Still, you know how fun a .22 is to "plink" with? Multiply that by 10, and you've got a mosin.

If it is indeed that bad then your plan of getting a custom mosin might be a simpler solution xD

That good huh? Maybe i should consider one. (After i get at least 2 black powder muskets and a mauser)

my mosin hasnt been fired in like 16 years and that was when my dad managed to get a .308 round through it. Wasn't till i got out of the Marines that i knew what it was.

But, Im damn sure if i got some 7.62 rounds she'll fire just fine.

I have a .22-250 that is that way. It was in a AR-15 platform. Most reliable AR I have ever used. I have a Swarovski scope on it right now, 500 yards is no problem for it. I wish I could have used it in my police job but it was a round they did now allow. I don't see why to be honest.

Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, Gander mountain are the gun superstores her in PA, Think Fry's or Walmart but all gun stuff. Cabelas in Hamburg PA is HUGE. I have the Thompson Center Firestorm flintlock I bought from there company store in Rochester Maine. Also look under Pennsylvania Long rifle since the Kentucky rifle actually came from PA. I personelly would avoid CVA stuff. Black powder is expensive like 40 bucks a pound and you need ffffg for the flashpan and ffg for the main charge. Oh and be carefull flintlocks are a blast but can be dangerous.
