Hi guys,

(I'm not sure if this is the right subforum to post this in, but I couldn't find a better one :/)

So I'm in the process of picking out parts for my first PC build, and I was hoping to get some second opinions and a bit of help.

This is everything that I've picked out so far: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/BYxMxr

Now, I'm pretty sure that all of these are good pieces of equipment, but I'm looking for confirmation.

This is going to be mainly a gaming rig, are the 980s I've picked out a good choice?

For the hard drives: I'd like to spend a little less money than that, but I would also like to have two SSDs in Raid 0. I don't need that much storage space, as this will be mainly for my OS and a few specific games. Any suggestions?

As for the motherboard and powersupply, I have no idea what I'm doing. I've picked these two arbitrarily, based on the recommendations I've seen around the internet. I'm totally open to suggestions here!

I'd also like to watercool the whole system, and I have no idea where to begin with that. In this case, a link to a forum post or maybe a video would be really helpful!

I've been watching LinusTechTips for a long time, but this is the first time I've ventured over to the forums. I like what I see!

Thanks in advance guys,

RabidBurn

rabidburnYour build looks fine, i would get a slightly bigger psu maybe a 750w just to be safe. Do you plan on custom water cooling and what do you plan to cool?

Are you playing at 4K? If not, then 1 980 or 1 970 will be ample. (or 290X)

Okay, sounds good on the PSU, any suggestions for a specific one? As for the water cooling, I'd love to get blocks for the GPUs, and also for the CPU, those are the only two things I should need to cool right?

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/JQHgxrPersonally I would go with this. Cheaper but just as good SSD, Got different ram to match the blac/reddish theme that was going on. Plus one stronger card is usally better, plus this is factory overclocked. :)

I'm not sure if I'll be playing at 4k, but I still think I'm going to go with the dual card in SLI configuration

Seriously, 2 980s are ridiculously overkill for 1440p or 1080p. Don't just buy something cuz it sounds cool to say.

Here's a high-end corsair 750w one with sleeved cables to make your build look pretty.

And for watercooling you are correct those are the things that need cooling. Try coming up with a list of parts, if you need help just ask. EK is a good company to buy parts from.

Thanks! I love the RAM and the SSDs, but I'm not sure about the $1300 Titan X lol

I do have a 4K TV, and I might end up using it to game on

Spend a few bucks more to get a much better quality power supply. This one has a ten year warranty and is flawless.

The titan is factory overclocked aswell, you can get the cheaper version of it. You are paying nearly just as much for 2 980s :)

First sentence: Wait, you have 2 980s. Which is also $1300, wat? Also, if you got a Titan X you could get a lesser wattage PSU. (Still has to be good though)

Second sentence: Then yes, go with 2 980s or the Titan X (1)

I can't decide between the superclocked Titan x posted above and the 2 980s I originally had

Get the Superclocked Titan X.

Not only will you need less wattage on your PSU, you'll also have TONNES of bragging rights.

But what benefits does it have over the dual card configuration?

Some games do not support SLI configuration, and the Titan X is the same, if not better than 2 980s. It will also consume less power and having the reference card is pretty sexy :P

Oh! And I forgot to mention having a Titan X adds about 50 inches to your e-peen.
