OS-Unusable memory for a RAMDisk?

Hey all, I have 24GB Of ram, however the windows I have (home premium) allows me to use a maximum usage of 16GB's by the OS.

Would I be able to use the spare 8GB as a ramdisk, or will it not be possible because of the 16GB limitation on the OS itself?

I dont think so, since I dont think windows and other programs will be able to see or allocate the extra memory, why not give it a try, there are free programs that can do it

probably worth upgrading to 8.1 anyway and getting 10 when it comes out

If the OS detects it maybe. If not, there would be no way of allocating that ram to a ram disk.

So, in the end, I dont think ots possible. Time for the ram charity donation

Yes, the OS does detect me as having 24GB however it says that only 16GB is useable, but I suppose it wouldn't be useable by a RAMDisk anyway, thanks for the help anyway guys
