How many times do I have to say this? The 970 has 4GB of VRAM - the last 512MB is just crippled. Stop spreading that.

We all no that, but you can only use 3.5gb. It's like saying a car can go 200mph, but a computer limits it's it to 150. Are you going to say the car does 200mph? No. You are going to say it does 150. Same thing with the 970.

The car can go 200MPH. It's just artificially limited by a computer - but it's within its capability to go 200.

But you are not going to say it does 200mph.

I would tell someone that it has the capability to go 200MPH(if I knew that) but it's artificially limited to go "only" 150MPH.

3.5 GB at full speed, 0.5 GB at 1/7th speed. I've said this before. No argument needed.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

hey guys what should be the better solution as gpu

tri-x r9 290x

or the

gtx 970

it is for 1440p, and im going to upgrade it prob later

i have a 970 and its a beast card at 1080p and beats the 290x by a small margin at this resolution, but from pretty much every review I've seen from trusted reviewers the 290x edges out quite a bit better than the 970 at higher resolutions. Seeing as you're going 1440p, I feel obligated to advise getting a 290x, unless you really care about all the added nVidia eye candy effects (HBAO+, DoF, MFAA, PhysX and what not). If instead you prefer higher solid FPS rather than a little more eye candy, stick with the 290x.

Or if you don't have financial limitations, you could just get a 980 and have higher FPS as well as the eye candy  :D

"Screw YOU guys, I'm going hoeeme"
