Considering whether or not to host a lan party (manchester, uk)

So yeah I have been looking around for some good lan parties in the uk but can't find any near me or in the uk (according to a google search for uk lan parties) well i can but none that are active on their website and that's it mainly if anyone is interested do reply with ur thoughts.

It would mainly consist of playing some tournaments with a wide variety of platforms

1: Pc games from rts to fps with racing games and puzzle games and a little mix of co-op games too (l4d type)

2: Some console games such as super smash (any version) and some halo,

3: maybe some sort of score challenges and classic games too (virtua fighter ECT...)

This would probably be in the next year or so 2014/2015 ish

think i can get everything in order but the more help i can get would be fantastic just need to find a venue and stuff (according to this wikihow http://www.wikihow.com/Host-a-LAN-Party) and a sponsor their might be some prizes too but idk this is just a thought.

anyway have a nice day from Dave!

It's a good idea, but without knowing how many people will turn up and the costs of actually starting the thing could be a bad idea, since it could put you into a large amount of debt.

It would be good to have one in the UK, but the only place that would guarantee people would be London

But I don't want to drive to London, Manchester is only like an hour away.

They're both about the same for me, though it would be cheaper to get a plane than to drive.

If you have to bring your PC, I would much prefer to drive.

I doubt anyone would drive me there just for a LAN party haha

The joys of having your own car :)

I'm planning on getting a bike, insurance for cars is way too expensive

Bike are dangerous though, someone in my college died the other week.

I've always had a passion for bikes, I know the dangers and I know it's not always the rider.

Also they're not the most practical, a Phantom on the back going to a LAN party, haha

Imagine it falling off down the motorway, everything would just go flying.

That's because you're not in the UK

And it depends on how new of a driver you are

I've had a great idea, bear with me while I find the image.

This, but with a bike instead of a car.
