So I am going to be a junior in highschool next year and I plan to take wrestling more seriously.

So what kind of training should I do off season to get rid of some extra body fat and build some muscle.

Freshman year I was 6 foot nothin and wrestled 152lb

This year I am about 6 foot 3 and wrestled both 160 and 170 (I couldn't cut weight so I had to wrestle up to 170)

Any advise?  I am currently not in any weights class and can't be in one next year because my electives are full.

Running is good for burning fat. And adding some extra leg muscle + stamina

Not sure what the best way of training for wrestling is.

Endurance. Jogging or biking are good ways to keep yourself up during the off season. If you want to be serious about it you are going to want to include weight training as well.

I wrestled back in middle school and high school. My high school won state championships something like 22 years out of the 26 years the school has existed lol. Kinda a powerhouse school when it comes to wrestling.

Wow..... I guess no one on this forum knows anything about wrestling. Or at least they arn't interested.

this is news to me that there are supposed to be experts online on every subject here 24/7 maybe I should ask that question I have on membrane roofing materials that I've had

that said my roots have been in judo. the biggest change for me was a couple week long training camp trip that our club took to Japan.... during a record breaking heat wave.

our dojo back here is in a lower level gym where its air conditioned and nicely padded etc. over in nippon those dojos were only cooled with a couple windows outside... outside being 40 degree humid sauna temps. at the end of training we were able to wring out sweat from our judo gi's. it only took a week for heat stroke to take me down for a couple days.

when I got back from japan something changed in me drastically there was a night and day change in the amount of endurance I had. and I don't attribute it to the physical activity we did there because it was a vacation/camp we stayed max 3 days in a city and moved on to another dojo while visiting sites. back home we had training camps every 2 months all dojos in our area to get together to beat ourselves up. it wasn't the physicality it was the temps in japan I feel made the difference.

not sure how or if you even would want to recreate that sort of environment. but other than temperature stress I'd work on building your core and and focus on bursts of intense exercise and resting only the amount of time you'd get in a match when a ref resets your positions or whatever you guys have in wrestling.
