First off, i have a tiny head.

The best headset to ever fit me were the SteelSeries Siberia V2s, however, i disliked the retractable mic. Right now, i currently have Logitech G930s (wireless "7.1"), but they are massive. The top of the ear-cups sit at the very top of my ears (leaving a lot of space below my ear) due to the design just being pretty big. I have no idea if i could make them smaller in anyway without damaging them, but i'd rather just sell them and pick up another pair of headphones that are a lot more comfy and size appropriate. Comfort/Size is pretty big for me, but audio quality and a boom mic is close behind.

So.. Does anyone know if they have had/seen/heard about a decent headset, same size as the Siberia V2s with a boom mic? There are a SHIT ton of options.. but i'm not experienced with good quality sounding headsets. Also, realize that i will not only be using this for mostly gaming, but i'm a Indie game designer as well, and editing my own sounds/music is going to be in the mix as well.

Thanks for all the feedback in advance!

I was looking at those headphones today actually. They seem a little pricey though? Again, i'm not sure.

The hyper x clouds fit me great, i have a small head. You may want a real set of cans and a mod mic.

The hyper x clouds never really got my attention because of the look (they reminded me of Turtlebeaches)

I liked the Plantronics RIG when I tried it, and it was definitely on the smaller side. Do consider the HyperX Cloud mentioned above aswell, as it is based on a good headphone.

As someone else mentioned a good pair of headphones combined with a mod mic (or something similar) could be a great option.

Never had good experience with Plantronics. Maybe i'll take another look though.

With a good pair of headphones, i'd need to obtain a sound card or something right? I don't want to go that route.

most of the time the mobo soundcard is good enough :P Only some specific situations you need a external DAC/AMP.

I'd kind of like to avoid having two separate devices (travel reasons for the next year or so).

I keep wondering if the Sennheiser G4me Zero or G4me Ones are roughly the same size as the V2s.

Over ear are often designed to have big ear holes. This contributes to the spacious, natural, and airy sounds. I might be able to fit 2 earlobes in my headphone. I've read somewhere (lost the link), an advice to wear it: push it down so it's 'hooked' on the backside of the earlobe, then push it a bit to to front (to the face direction). In short, the earlobes should be on the top and a bit back, relative to the headphone's hole. This will position the drivers to be a bit to the front of the ear canals, thus giving a bit more natural sound.

A $2000 headphone, LCD-3, plugged to a $30 candybar cell phone. It still sound like a $2000 headphone.

I find that most bigger ear-hole headsets have a bigger size to them. Like i said, my head is tiny and the Siberia V2s sit very nice and snug to my ears. I personally like the closed design and find it very comfortable, even after long periods of gaming.

Nah as long as you have a headphone and mic ports on your PC/Device your golden.  Most motherboards have good enough built in soundcards now days.

The mod mic base clamp is applied with a 3M pad (kinda like a 2 sided sticker, strong enough that it won't come off unless you want it to and the residue is easily cleaned off if you want to remove it completely after). The mic then clips onto the base clamp through a magnet, so it is easily removed when you don't want to use it.

You would not need a sound card. If anything, (assuming you have a fairly modern motherboard) your motherboard will have a better sound setup than any internal card you could get.

I'm tempted to purchase a decent set of Sennhieser stand-alone headphones and buy a separate mic, however no local shop sells them where i'm located (which blows) and i don't want to get it shipped if they are too big.

Alright cool, thanks. My mother now would be fine, however are mATX boards different?

EDIT: Would the Sennheiser HD449 be a decent headset? I may be able to pick that up local (worried that they are too poor quality due to just plastic build)

No real difference between Matx and atx. It's not like the higher quality sound stuff takes up *that* much more room on the board, if it actually does at all...

Sennheiser doesn't really make anything that's of poor quality. My Sennheiser HD650s are predominantly plastic, and they are ~$500 headphones. Their build quality is really good, and they feel incredibly solid. The plastic build does not take away from the quality of Sennheiser products.

The HD449 would be fine as a pair of headphones, the ones you linked didn't look like they came with a mic, but I may have missed something. Otherwise something like a modmic would do you just fine! :)

Here's a review to the Sennheiser HD449's: http://www.head-fi.org/products/sennheiser-hd-449-headphones/reviews

For that sale price it'd probably be hard to beat their quailty, but for the full price there might be better options (I don't know much about headphones)? Your best bet would be to make a post asking for suggestions for good headphones within your Price limit.

What about the HD280 Pro vs the HD449 (sorry for the dumb questions)? And yes, i realize there is no mic with it.

I think i might have to start a thread about that. It's hard to tell though, because a lot of people have bigger heads then me.
