GPU Core 18 v4 (Windows/Linux) Update!

Hi all,

 

We're rolling out a new version of Core 18 (GPU Core) for Linux and Windows. This release fixes performance issues with Nvidia "Maxwell" GPUs as long as you have up to date Nvidia drivers. Specifically, 347.xx and above (Windows), and 346.xx and above (Linux). It still works with older driver versions, just with degraded performance on Maxwell. There are still performance issues on AMD GPUs, so the restriction on AMD gpus will be kept in place.

 

Right now, we will not configure the client to automatically download v4 if you have v3. To get v4, you must manually delete any earlier versions of the core. When we're sure there won't be any issues, we'll cause clients to automatically upgrade to this version. [Note for linux: since there isn't an earlier version of x18, you will get v4 automatically].

 

Currently, there are restrictions against Maxwell GPUs receiving core 18 assignments. We'll be relaxing those restrictions throughout this week.

I love folding! I've been involved since 2011. Built one of the first 4Ps on the "enthusiasts folding@home scene" long long ago to help build awareness of how "easy" it was. Recently moved and now I'm able to get back into it again, this time around I joined up with LTT though

Nobody on the LTT team is getting that high amount. Highest right now is 500k+

I think that we had someone that high for a short while, though.

Once my 24hr average catches up with my actual PPD, it should be just over 1.2mil, in theory.
