I'm wanting to get a custom ROM to get improved speeds and stuff and minimize on bloatware. But I need it to retain nvidias tablet functions. I am on the shield tablet running 5.0.1. And running unofficial TWRP. Any ideas on which one? Thanks for the help!!!!

Isn't the tablet using stock AOSP. I don't think you are going to be getting rid of any bloatware. The only differences are the apps that are needed for functionality of the shield.

Well then skip ridding the bloatware. Anything?

Anything Nvidia-related app which can't be sourced on Google Play will almost certainly be closed source and will not be available on custom ROMS.

I'm not quite sure what you're referring to when you say you want to remove "bloatware" but keep Nvidia functions, but you could just root your tablet and remove any apps which would be irremovable otherwise.

I wanted to go to cyanogenmod but have heard that it doesn't support nvidia features like controller, grid, and prism to name a few. And by removing bloatware, I mean removing google apps except for the essentials like play store. And for speeds, I read and heard that cyanogenmod is faster than stock even through it is almost exactly stock.

Proprietary apps won't be there. Maybe you might find a way to get them in there, but if you just want to remove bloat, maybe you could root your tablet and try with something like Titanium Backup? If you don't need the proprietary stuff, CM all the way :P

Xda-developers if you have any doubts, just search for your device. There isn't much on the Shield, but it shows how to root it, at least.
