Which one should I choose?

Hi,

 

I am building a £500 gaming PC for games like HEAVILY modded minecraft, tf2, steam games, etc. I have narrowed down 2 builds, one with an i5 4590 and a 270x, and one with an i5 4440 and a 280x. Which one would be better for my purposes?

Why don't you wait a little bit more and take  i5 4590 and a 280x OR you can go with  i5 4440 and a 280x.

normally i would recommend you to get the better gpu, as that is usually the limiting factor in games, however there seems to be a marginal difference in price between those cpu's and would it not be possible to wait a bit more to get the better cpu?

 

Also the difference between non x class graphics cards and x class graphics cards is usually quite minimal, so if the r9 280 is much cheaper than the r9 280x then just get that.

Go for the second one but push for a 600W PSU
