Hi,

My question is,

Think of this: if a hard drive that is set to IDE mode... Then i remove it to install win8 on ssd.

I install a SSD on ahci mode.

When im in windows on the ssd, will that hard drive still be detectable that was on IDE? In the My computer?

Err I think so, if you're using the mechanical drive as storage I think you'll be OK though I'm not 100% sure because I've not really had much to do with installing and playing around with SSD's yet but it should still be detected if it's a secondary drive.

Once you have your BIOS set to AHCI, when you plug the hard drive back in after the installation, it should see and read the drive through AHCI as well.

Either way, it doesn't matter. AHCI and IDE are just the difference of legacy support and not. It shouldn't affect speed or anything since hard drives top out around 150MB/s. Just make sure your SSD is pulling around the advertised speeds and you should be fine, at least in my own experience I have been.

yes, but you could not boot from this HDD, you can ONLY use the HDD when you are already loaded in windows through an SSD or similar
