Hi, I recently took the motherboard out of my Xbox 360 and the CPU out of my Asus Laptop which is now running steam OS. I was wondering if before I take the CPU out of my Xbox if that my CPU would be compatible with my Asus Laptop CPU.

If you would like the model of the Asus then please ask.

I'm not entirely sure on replacing the Xbox CPU, and to be honest, I don't know if there are many console modders on this forum. That being said, I will try my best to help (I have some experience with modding an old Xbox 360 Slim). 1. What's the model of the Asus laptop? 2. Are you aware that there will be more than just swapping CPUs? I'd imagine it's Jtagged, but I'm pretty sure you have to modify the NAND to accept the unrecognized CPU.

Could you be clearer. Are you looking to replace the cpu in the xbox or replace the cpu in your laptop because your laptops cpu is most likely stronger than your console cpu. Plus, I'd like to mention that usually console have custom hardware so it may not be possible to simply replace the cpu in it

I'm going to go ahead and say no. IIRC the CPU in a 360 is not x86/x64 but PPC, and it wouldn't work either way. Even if you'd manage to make it work, forget running steamOS, as that's based on the linux kernel, which is an x86/x64 kernel. You'd have to install an old version of Mac OS or the debian PowerPC port. (i'm sure there's some more options, but w/e)

I wanted to do this swap so my Laptop would be able to stand some games as at the moment it was struggling in game. I really didn't mind if anything got broken as I have other PC's, I just thought it would be a cool project.

Thanks for all your replies. Okay, I'll not swap them over if it causes so many problems.
