What are your guys thoughts on this upgrade

i7-5820K

MSI X99S SLI Plus

8 GB G.Skill Ripjaws 4

What is the reason you want to upgrade? X99 is workstation grade stuff, kinda overkill for a gaming setup.

The point is overkill for gaming

What bothers me is that you're going from 16GB DDR3 to 8GB DDR4, which is a step back because DDR4 doesn't do much for games. Second is that you appear to keep the same graphics card. The build you have seems fine, just get a better graphics card if you want better performance in games.
