PNY XLR8 PRO OC; I'm thinking of buying one in the next while anyone got any thoughts for or against it? My main reasons for choosing it is the Black and White color scheme as I plan on putting it in a monochromatic build it'd fit right in and it's on the cheaper side of most 980s saving me some money but seems to good to be true in which case I could easily cough out the extra $20-50 for a better 980

Looks nice but the hall of fame cards look better.

Those aren't the easiest or the cheapest to get a hold of and I've heard some bad reactions to them like those of Jayztwocents... Also I'm not doing an all white build I'm doing a 80% Black with like 10% Gray and 10% White monochrome build... I think it'd be too white

I've been looking at it as well, it is quite cheap when you consider the build quality. There's not too many reviews of it though, Hardwarecanucks seem to like it though.

Don't be fooled by the "lifetime warranty" though. Unless they changed it, it's for the lifetime of the product all together rather than the one you own. In other words, when PNY discontinues the card the warranty is non existent.

Wound up editting my statement to include more info sorry (quoted right above you in this post) but it's not a white themed build I think I'd poke my own eyes out if I had a build as white as say Linus's "SubZero" phase change cooling build... inshort: I think it's TOO WHITE, on top of the fact I've only ever had the chance to get ahold of a single one here in america and it would've cost me a grand. $1000 for that I would get a Titan X and turn off the Geforce GTX LEDs and call it a day... But for what it is the HOF 980 is a sexy white beast

Isn't that how most lifetime warrantys are? And I'm sort of questioning the build quality looks fine but is it really I am having a bad feeling in my gut and I'm not sure if paranoia or not

I'm pretty sure mostcompanies that lifetime warranties will give you a newer product to replace it if the original product is discontinued.

As for quality, well, let me put it like this, PNY is one of the few board partners that are allowed to manufacture Nvidia's workstation cards.

It's still Themcsame BTW but my pass is a randomly generated one so I don't know it off the top of my head...I should probably sign into that one when I get home :D

I thought that for Nvidia's workstation cards they were all Nvidia manufactured and just resold by OEMs and Dell and such are also allowed to manufacture such cards and they don't manufacture other cards at all so I don't think that's really a statement that really means much

The only workstation cards I've seen are either from Nvidia or pny, I haven't seen any from Dell. Lets be honest though, if PNY wasn't capable of producing a decent product then I don't think Nvidia would've let them handle their cards in the first place.

I'm going the Black & White route also. Picked up an EVGA 980 SC, planning on spraypainting the front face (NOT the fans) white. Will have to disassemble the card to get my backplate on anyway, so why not? I don't imagine it will be terribly hard. Thing I'm most concerned about is reapplying thermal paste and stuff.

I was REALLY ready to pull the trigger on the 980 HOF from Galax, until I saw Jay's review, which really left a bad taste in my mouth. It's a shame their cards look so great, but perform as they did in Jay's video, eugh.

here's an example...

they're an oddity http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DGHS4WA/?tag=pcpapi-20but find and yeah after more searching most Quadros are PNY

honestly I've narrowed down my 980 choices a bit

PNY's, Gigabytes, EVGA's Kingpin ACX 2.0+ or Hybrid but for the EVGA's I'd be saving up an extra week or two
