A friend of mine just made an account here at linus tech tips a few days ago and it says it needs approval by an administrator, how long does that usually take? he's looking for some help with a pc build.

best way is to have your friend go to main page of Linus Tech Tips,

scroll to the very bottom,

and click Contact Us.

complete fields,

and this will alert administration on issue.

Actually, as far as I know that doesn't work at the moment. Instead, can you post/PM me your friend's user name and we will look into the issue. Users shouldn't require administrator approval though. Is he 100% sure that he clicked the verification link?
