Okay, I just want to be sure before I attempt anything. 

as long as it doesn't go over 62c, you can overclock it as far as you like.

To begin, I am a complete "newb" in the area of overclocking, so please excuse my lack of knowledge. 

 

I have an AMD Fx-8320 which runs stock at 3.5GHz, and take note that however crappy it may be I still have the stock heat-sink.

 

My question is, if the Fx - 8350 comes clocked at 4GHz stock out of the box shipped out with the same heat-sink, would there be harm in up-clocking my 8320 to 3.8 - 4GHz, all while staying within safe temperatures until I upgrade the cooler?

 

Furthermore, if this small overclock wouldn't be a problem, could someone point me in the right direction towards a good / safe overclocking guide?

You could overclock the 8320 to 4GHz if the two coolers are the same.
