I use a 1440P monitor and a stock cooler 290X and I was wondering it would be worth crossfiring with a Matrix Platinum 290x. I have a 860W PSU in my rig.

My friend has an EVGA 750G2 power supply and was wondering if he bought 2 r9 290x matrix platinum he could have enough power.

The matrix cooler on the 290x is very very poor, try getting lightnings instead, they are much better.

Lightnings. The Lightnings. SO EXPENSIVE!

In my country (Australia) the MSI Lightning 290X is loating around the $850 mark (about $630 USD) Which is about the same price as a nice 980.

So unfair :(

If you have the budget it's always nice to run an extra card but keep in mind that crossfiring can invite certain problems like stuttering, incompatibility issues, driver issues and stuff. I suggest getting another card only if you are playing a game that will push your single card to its limits. From my experience, I used to turn off one card off my crossfire setup at times because of the problems it brings to the system.

Would the DirectCU II be better than the matrix as the cheapest retailer here in Sweden (NetOnNet) only has the Matrix and the DirectCUII.
